Chimpanzees live together in harmony in a group of about 10 – 100 members. They can also babysit each other’s offspring, groom each other and even hold hands. A young chimpanzee starts to be independent at the age of 4 years.

Chimpanzee tracking rules and regulations

Travelers should maintain a distance of about 8m between you and the chimpanzees.

People who are sick of flu, cold, or diarrhea may not be allowed in the park because these chimpanzees are also prone to disease travelers should avoid eating near these chimpanzees.

Travelers must be 12 years and above.

Chimps need freedom; therefore, travelers shouldn’t do provoking things once they enter the park.

Flash photography is not accepted in the park.

What to carry along

Wear shoes with grip because sometimes tracking involves climbing steep moist muddy slopes

Carry long sleeve clothes.

Carry rain gear, since Uganda’s weather is unpredictable

Carry enough energy drinks.

Carry a pair of binoculars among others.
